Eight Generations Weaving History.

Compañía Valenciana de la Seda traces its origins to the deep silk-making tradition of the Valencian region, today led by the eighth generation of the Catalá family. In 1770, they founded the historic company Rafael Catalá, established in Valencia and born in the Velluters neighborhood, the epicenter of the flourishing silk activity of the Kingdom of Valencia.

Masters in Silk Fabrics Since 1770.

Driven by the great vocation of the family, silk weaving has been preserved for both decoration and bridal gowns, haute couture, and regional fabrics.

That is why we have an extensive and legendary archive of antique textile documents dating back to the 18th century, allowing us to present the market with purity, styles, patterns, and colors guaranteed by historical rigor.

Preserving the Art of Valencian Silk by Combining Tradition, Archive, and Innovation.

Alongside the most advanced looms, we continue to preserve the traditional handlooms known as “spolín,” maintaining the artisanal craft of the skilled Valencian weaver.

Safeguarding the richness of Valencian textiles means continuing to give life to our culture and heritage.

This is the core purpose of the daily work at Compañía Valenciana de la Seda.

Our exclusive wooden looms, still in use today, are a testament to our unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and quality. Each fabric we create is a piece that honors our history and enriches the textile culture of generations.
